Today we will discuss what does an interior designer do.
Interior designers work one on one with clients, managing the process of a redesign or complete renovation from start to finish. They work with contractors, mechanical engineers, etc. They are in constant contact with the client, check in on the progress of the project as needed, and communicate the end result to those collaborating on the project.
The main goal of an interior designer is to please the client. Most clients have an idea in their head of what they want, or what they want the space to be used for. The designer can take their ideas and put them on drawings or online programs to display their design. If the client approves, the project can begin. The client can sit back and watch the room be completely transformed, as the designer will handle every aspect of the project.
Remodeling and renovations can be expensive; it is within the designer’s responsibilities to manage a budget and follow the client’s wishes. They will outline a timeline to adhere to, as well as specify any changes to existing or new materials or furnishings. Designers are also knowledgable on building codes; although they will not personally tear down a wall, they will know if it is safe to tear down when coming up with a new design.
It is important to remember that designers are there to help you; communicating your vision to them is essential for you to get the most out of this space. You are the one living in the space; they want to make it all about you. Remember, interior designers don’t just make a space look pretty, they also make it functional for its everyday uses.
